Looking forward to their annual fall regatta every year are members of the New York J/22 fleets spread across several of the Finger Lakes and Lake George. Thirteen J/22 teams showed up for the Jack Rabbit Regatta on Lake Canandaigua, hosted by the Canandaigua Yacht Club. While not blessed with gorgeous fall conditions, the CYC PRO did manage to run six quick windward-leeward races on the placid lake waters. Kirk Reynolds’ team showed their tail-feathers to the fleet in the first five races, winning them all by comfortable margins. As a result, Reynolds’ 5 points total gave them a 10-point margin of victory. It was a battle for the balance of the podium, with two teams dueling all weekend long for the silver. In the end, Todd Salzman’s HANDBASKET posted a steady 2-2-3-5-3-5 to take second with 15 points net. Losing that battle, but happy to earn the bronze against such talented competition was Greg Radak’s TRAIN WRECK with a record of 3-5-2-3-4-11 for 17 points net. Rounding out the top five were Dick Hallagan’s CHIBOUGAMAU in fourth, just holding off a hard-charging Tim Wilkes on MOOI NOOI.
